Salma Begum holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Malakand, Pakistan. After completing her degree, she went on to earn her midwifery certification from the Nursing Examination Board.

Salma started her career as a midwife with the Centre of Excellence for Rural Development (CERD) in District Swat and then began working with RMF as a Lady Health Visitor (LHV) in December 2017 at the Satellite Clinic, Swat Health Project.
