The RMF/Google Free Medical Camp Projects are continuing with our fourth weekend passing successfully. After having camps in Union Council Aman Garh and Union Council Nisatta, RMF/Google returned to the Nowshehra district, to the village of Pirpiai with our team of doctors, nurses, paramedics, and general volunteers as well as with medicines/medical supplies.
RMF Flood Relief Medical Camps for the Flood Victims of Pakistan were held on the weekend of October 9th and 10th, 2010 at the Government High School, Union Council in Pirpiai.
Dr. Rubina Mumtaz, RMF”s Country Director for Pakistan, formally inaugurated the 2-day Free Medical Camp along with the participating medical team. All the team members thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to serve provided to them by Google’s generosity. Dr. Rubina also visited various sections of the camp such as the registration counter, the different specialist OPDs, the pharmacy and the patients waiting in the halls. She met with all 23 doctors in their OPD sections one by one and discussed the morbidity trends in our camps.
A total of 4,212 patients were treated in this 2-day Free Medical Camp. 2,509 patients were treated on Saturday, October 9, 2010 and 1,703 patients were treated on Sunday, October 10, 2010.
Of these 4,212 patients:
On day one, 23 medical doctors and on day two, 17 doctors from various specialties participated in our camps, the final figures of specialized care made possible through Google’s support are as follows:
1,314 patients – General medical OPD cases, such as acute (bloody) diarrhea, cholera, malaria, upper and lower respiratory tract infections, headaches, general weakness. Of these patients,
The RMF medical team will be able to follow these patients at the hospitals where they work.
As always, the response from the community was excellent. Patients arrived from more than 5 surrounding villages as the camp is centrally located at the Government High School.
