Professor Dr Rubina Mumtaz Magsi is the founder of Real Medicine Foundation Pakistan and has been heading the organization since its inception in 2006. She is a graduate cum laude from Khyber College of Dentistry, Peshawar and MPH from the Harvard School of Public Health, USA. Dr Rubina has worn many hats ranging from leadership roles in the Pakistan Dental Association, National Task Force on Oral Health in the Federal Ministry of Health, Pakistan, UN consultant for HIV and Hepatities, and School Oral Health Advocate for ICT. On the academic platform, she is a Professor at Rawal Institute of Health Sciences, SZABMU University Islamabad, teaching undergrad and post-graduate classes of community dentistry.
AFSHAN BHATTI MSC , MBA

Afshan Bhatti has a diverse academic background in anthropology, sociology, psychology, and business management. Her primary qualifications are a Master of Science in Anthropology from Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad and an MBA in International Business from George-Simon-Ohm University of Applied Sciences, Nürnberg, Germany. Afshan has over twenty years of experience in the field of qualitative and quantitative research and program management, with a particular focus on gender, poverty, social exclusion, and inequities. While working on these issues, she has gained extensive firsthand experience of working in remote, rural, insecure environments of Pakistan. Since the inception of Research wing, she functions as a co-investigator and manages the administrative aspects of data collection of all our research studies acting as the liaison between RMF Pakistan and our academic supporters composed of international universities, international organizations, and government departments. |
ZUBIA MUMTAZ PHD, MPG, MBBS
National Research Director, Pakistan
Dr. Zubia Mumtaz is the Director of RMF Pakistan’s research wing. She is a graduate of Aga Khan University, Karachi and with MPH from Harvard University and PHD from London School of Tropical Health, Dr Zubia is a full time Professor at the School of Public Health, University of Alberta, Canada. Dr. Mumtaz’s research focuses on global maternal health, specifically on the social determinants of women’s access to maternal health services, exploring how interlocking axis of inequity – gender, poverty and social exclusion are reproduced in maternal health policy, design, and delivery of services. Her particular expertise is combining principals of quantitative and qualitative research methods. Dr Mumtaz’s research in Pakistan specializes in women’s reproductive health with a focus on access to services and inequities in policy, design, and delivery of services within the government healthcare system and the challenges of scaling up delivery of services, especially to remote, rural populations. She operates as the Principal Investigator winning the grants for all our research studies.
