RMF in partnership/collaboration with Google held another two day free Medical Camp (the 5th and 6th of our Flood Relief Camps) for the flood victims of Pakistan this past weekend, October 2 and 3, 2010.
These camps were held at the Government Higher Secondary School in Nisatta, Union Council Nisatta, Charsadda District, KPK, Pakistan.
We have now treated over 12,000 patients at our relief camps in addition to thousands at our permanent clinic in Talhatta.
A total of 3,743 patients were treated over the course of the two day event.
Of these 3,743 patients
17 medical doctors, representing various specialties, participated on the first day, and 15 doctors on the second day of this camp.
879 patients – General medical cases, such as acute diarrhea, cholera, malaria, respiratory tract infections
All patients diagnosed with acute abdomen, burns, acute appendicitis, severe injuries and major infected wounds were referred to tertiary hospitals for follow up and advanced care. Our team of doctors will be able to follow these patients at the hospitals where they work.
The response from the community was excellent.
Local notables, Government officials, politicians and religious leaders from Nisatta all visited the camp and appreciated the great effort.
Patients arrived from more than 7 surrounding villages as the camp was strategically and centrally located.
Further camps are planned for this coming weekend. There continues to be an enormous need to hold relief efforts like these all over Pakistan and we will continue to offer these medical camps as long as our funding allows.
