Real Medicine Foundation (RMF) Pakistan was founded in response to the 2005 earthquake that claimed over 80,000 lives, originating from a meeting between Dr. Rubina Mumtaz Magsi and Dr. Martina Fuchs, founder of RMF USA. Initially, RMF USA volunteers managed relief efforts in Balakot through a local NGO, but after the 2010 monsoon floods, RMF Pakistan was officially registered as a Welfare Trust, enabling humanitarian funds to flow through its operations. For over a decade, RMF Pakistan provided healthcare and rehabilitation aid to disaster-affected communities until its partnership with RMF USA ended during the COVID-19 pandemic. Today, RMF Pakistan operates two wings: the Humanitarian Service Delivery wing, which has delivered free primary healthcare and emergency relief to nearly half a million vulnerable Pakistanis, and a research wing, established in 2011, that collaborates with global institutions to study gender, poverty, and social exclusion, particularly in maternal and reproductive health. These research efforts aim to inform policy and improve healthcare practices for marginalized women in Pakistan.
Real Medicine Foundation Pakistan’s vision is to empower communities and institutions by providing them with the resources and skills needed to achieve self-sufficiency. Our goal is to address disparities in health systems, social inequities, and social marginalization by implementing scientifically proven, long-term solutions.
Real Medicine Foundation Pakistan has a two-fold mission: to conduct research that identifies innovative, contextually specific solutions for the challenges faced by marginalized populations, particularly women and children, and to provide humanitarian support to vulnerable and disaster-affected communities through medical care, housing, and food assistance.
